For tourism, the relevant category is the 9(a)-2 Temporary Visitor Visa. The Department of Foreign Affairs issues visas through its overseas diplomatic and consular posts. The national 9(a)-2 tourist checklist asks for documents proving ties to your home country or country of residence. It gives an employment certificate or property documents as examples; ask your consular post which evidence it accepts.
Check the authorized stay on your visa
The Philippines describes the 9(a)-2 tourist visit as lasting for a predetermined period; the visa category alone does not give every passport the same stay limit. Official guidanceA child travelling without a parent or guardian may need permission
For 9(a)-2 tourism, the national checklist asks for a parent or guardian permission letter when a minor is not travelling with a parent or guardian. Check the visa office and Philippine Immigration rules for any other child-specific documents.
A tourist visa does not authorize local work or study
The 9(a) tourist route is for a temporary visit. The Philippine Consulate in Nagoya warns that tourists need the appropriate clearance or permit to study, practise a profession or take employment in the Philippines. Ask Immigration which status applies if your plans include those activities.
