Details that can change your plans
Cairo International uses digital QR visas on arrival
Cairo International has replaced visa stickers with digital QR codes for visas on arrival. You can obtain a QR code at airport self-service terminals or bank counters before immigration. The German Federal Foreign Office says terminals take card payments, while bank counters accept cash at USD 36; the UK FCDO also lists USD 36 including the USD 6 digital service fee. Other approved airports sell a physical visa on arrival for USD 30 cash. Follow the airport signs and check for rollout changes before travel.

The German Federal Foreign Office says a German national ID card can be used, although a passport is recommended. If entering with an ID card, bring two biometric passport photos; the visa is attached to a separate sheet that you must keep and present when leaving Egypt.
Official guidanceEgyptian government pages list different arrival fees
The Egyptian Embassy in Berlin's German-nationality form text lists USD 25 for a tourist visa on arrival, while current German Federal Foreign Office advice lists USD 30 at approved airports and USD 36 at Cairo International for the digital QR option.
