Visa-required visitors must apply online before travel
Solomon Islands implemented its eVisa regime on 6 September 2026. The Government says travellers who require a visa must apply online and receive approval before travel, and Immigration says all short-term visitor visa applications use its eVisa portal. This applies to travellers who need a visa; passport-specific exemptions still have their own conditions. Wait for your grant letter before departure.
Official guidanceAllow extra time for visa processing
Immigration’s Tourist Visa page says processing varies by category and completeness. Its current contact FAQ gives a typical 3–5 business days, while the short-term policy says 14 working days. The official pages do not give one consistent estimate; apply well ahead and do not travel until the grant is issued.
Official guidanceCheck the stay dates on your visa grant
Immigration lists up to three months per entry and its policy says up to 180 days in a calendar year. The Government’s eVisa announcement also describes an initial 30-day pre-entry authorisation, with longer stays handled through an extended-stay visa. These are different stages and limits; confirm the approved dates and repeat-visit limit with Immigration before booking a longer stay.
Official guidanceAsk Immigration about extensions before your visa expires
An extension may be permitted but is not automatic. Immigration asks visitors to apply before the current permit expires; its FAQ says to submit at least seven days in advance. The Tourist Visa page lists a USD 100 extension fee payable in Solomon Islands.
