A visa exception may apply

Check whether a passport-specific visa exception applies.

For tourism in Egypt, ordinary passport holders from Finland can get a visa on arrival at an eligible entry point. The stay limit is 30 days per visit. A free permit may cover up to 15 days in South Sinai after direct arrival at Sharm al-Sheikh, Nuweiba or Taba. Longer stays or travel beyond the area require a visa; confirm passport and route eligibility.

Check visa exceptions for your passport

Check eligibility and any registration steps before relying on a visa exception.

  1. Check whether your passport meets the exception

Egypt's Tourism Authority says travelers arriving directly at Sharm al-Sheikh, Nuweiba or Taba may receive a free entry-permit stamp for a stay of up to 15 days in South Sinai, including Dahab. A visa is needed if you stay longer or travel beyond the permitted area. Confirm that your route and passport qualify before departure.

  2. If you do not qualify, apply for the required visa before travel

For ordinary-passport nationalities listed as eligible, create the e-Visa application at least 7 days before departure. Complete it online and pay by Visa, Mastercard or another debit card; the portal emails the current status after processing. Wait for approval, then download and print the e-Visa. The 7-day instruction is a minimum lead time, not a guaranteed approval date. A visa on arrival is a separate route with its own airport process and fee; confirm your route before travel.

  3. Check the stay and entry conditions

A visa or visa waiver does not guarantee admission. Follow the dates and conditions set by the destination’s immigration authority.
