Denial and Appeals
Denial and Refusal
A visa application for Indonesia may be denied for reasons such as:
- Incomplete or incorrect documentation.
- The applicant has a criminal record or is on the government's blacklist (Penangkalan).
- Insufficient financial resources to cover the stay.
- Providing false information or documents.
Appeals Process
There is no formal administrative appeal process for a denied visa application. In the event of a denial, you should re-evaluate your application and address the issues before reapplying at the nearest Indonesian embassy or consulate.
Stay Guidelines and Regulations
Overstay Penalties
The penalty for overstaying is 1,000,000 IDR per day (approx. $65 USD). Individuals who overstay their visa for more than 60 days will be deported and placed on the government’s blacklist (Penangkalan) to prevent future re-entry.
Mandatory Address Reporting
Foreigners must report any change in their local address or immigration status within 24 hours of the change. Failure to comply with these regulations is a punishable offense and can lead to deportation.
Compliance
Administrative Immigration Action (TAK) specifically targets those using visas for incorrect purposes, such as working on a tourist visa. It is mandatory to use the correct visa type for your intended activity in Indonesia.
Health Requirements
Health Declaration (SATUSEHAT)
The Indonesian government requires all travelers to complete a health declaration through the integrated SATUSEHAT platform before arrival. This is part of the integrated digital arrival system.
Mandatory Vaccinations
Travelers from countries with a risk of yellow fever must provide a valid vaccination certificate upon entry to Indonesia. It is also recommended to be up-to-date with routine vaccinations such as Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Typhoid, and Tetanus before traveling.
Financial Requirements
Proof of Funds
Visitors may be required to show proof of sufficient funds for their entire stay in Indonesia. For tourism visas, this is typically between 2,000 USD and 5,000 USD, or equivalent in other currencies.
Minimum Balance for Long-Term Permits
For Golden Visas or other long-term stay permits, higher financial requirements (including investments or specific bank balances) may apply.
Customs Information
Electronic Customs Declaration (e-CD)
All foreign visitors must complete the Electronic Customs Declaration (e-CD) online before arrival. This is now integrated into the "All Indonesia" digital platform for travelers.
Items to Declare
Travelers must declare any of the following items:
- Cash or negotiable instruments exceeding 100,000,000 IDR (approx. $6,500 USD).
- Any animal or plant material, including food and agricultural products.
- Goods exceeding a total value of 500 USD per person.
- Alcohol and tobacco (allowances: 1 liter of alcohol, 200 cigarettes, or 25 cigars per adult).
